The Palace

Catherine Palace, sometimes called the Summer Palace, is located in the town of Tsarskoye Selo (Pushkin), 12 miles southeast of St. Petersburg. This area had once been occupied by Finland, but Russia acquired it in 1708. From that year until 1724, Catherine I resided in a small wooden house constructed during the Finnish occupation.
